Orchha is a tiny farming town dotted with historical sites. For most of them, you need ticket that you can buy only at the fort, so start there. Galleries listed on GMaps were unfortunately closed as of 2025. Of note:
- Orchha Wildlife Sanctuary (go over the new bridge and follow the street; after 100-200 m there is a small ticket office on the right side). Daily 7AM-6PM. This forest area includes most of the river island and is great for a hike. You can go by foot or enter with a vehicle. There is a 6-km hike there to the northern tip of the island and back. Right after the entrance go straight for 2 km and then follow the signs (then also in English). There is a nice river viewing point and a watchtower with a spectacular view on Orchha. Not many people go there. You can see monkeys, cows, wild boars (from afar), and chakals/foxes. Very relaxing. ₹30 per person, also foreigners. (updated Oct 2025)
